Voters in tiny San Simeon appear to have voted to retain incumbent services district director Ralph McAdams. He ran against Mary Giacoletti, the environmental representative for the North Coast Advisory Council.

As of Wednesday, Nov. 7, with almost all votes counted, McAdams had received 65 votes, as compared with 34 cast for Giacoletti. The tally includes all vote-by-mail ballots submitted prior to election day and all ballots at the polls on election day. It does not include vote-by-mail ballots submitted on election day.

McAdams is currently vice chairman of the San Simeon Community Services District. He ran to fill out the remaining two years of former board Chairman Terry Lambeth’s term. McAdams has served on the board before.

He’ll join Chairwoman Dee Dee Ricci and directors Alan Fields, Daniel Williams and Leroy Price.
The district’s water supply has been an ongoing problem for decades, and the district has had a water-shortage-triggered building moratorium since April 1988.

The 100-acre community includes about 450 residents. The district has a $742,447 income budget for 2012-2013 to serve 161 residential accounts, six commercial accounts and 35 lodgings (although some motels have multiple accounts). There are six restaurants and a dozen irrigation accounts.
