I am greatly upset over the State Responsibility Area (SRA) Fire Prevention Benefit Fee on people who live in rural areas. It could be as much for us as $300 for having two residents on our rural property.
None of this money will go to local fire stations! It will go to education, some clearing on state lands, etc., but it is very undefined and not clear at all. It was also imposed by the California legislators and signed by the governor. Nothing is said that part of it or all could go to some other programs not related to fire safety.
This is a tax and must be voted on by the people, which this wasnt. Go online and see the number of areas that are not wanting this and emailing or calling their California state representatives to cancel it or redo it and offer to even have the people vote on it, if they want it at all. There are petitions to sign, etc. Google is a good place to start, for those groups against SRA. Do it now!
