Karen White, a recent addition to the Oceano Community Services District, will join the board for another two years.
White, a retired journalist who lives in the town of Halcyon, ran against Rick Searcy, a former board member who resigned in May. White was appointed to fill his seat in June.
Four out of five seats on the Oceano services district board were up for re-election, but the makeup of the board will remain unchanged. Three members of the board Matt Guerrero, Mary Lucey and Felma Hurdle ran unopposed, and an election was not held for their seats.
In the following year, they will focus on upgrading aging sewer and water lines, help address flooding issues and discuss revitalizing the communitys downtown.
The district provides sewer, water, street lighting and fire services to Oceano residents.
The district board has gone through some turmoil in past years but within the past year has become a more stable, cohesive group. The board doesnt have land-use powers, but board members take an active interest in developments proposed for Oceano.
