Forward Mackenzie Pridham, who led the Cal Poly men’s soccer team with 11 goals this season, was named the Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Year on Monday, making him the first Mustangs men’s player in school history to win the award.

Pridham’s 11 goals were second best in the conference to Cal State Northridge’s Sagi Lev-Ari, who had 12. Pridham led the conference in game-winning goals with six, and was the first Mustangs player to score double-digit goals since Clay Harty in 1996.

Five other Cal Poly players were named to the All-Big West Conference team. Defender Nolan Moore, who started 17 games this season and helped anchor a Cal Poly defense that allowed one goal per game, was named to the first team with Pridham. Forward Benny Estes, who had two assists this season, and midfielder Geroge Malki, who scored four goals and had three assists, were named to the second team. And midfielder Chris Gaschen and goalkeeper Wade Hamilton earned honorable mention.

Also on Monday, Gaschen was named the Big West Offensive Player of the Week after he picked up an assist in each of Cal Poly’s 1-0 wins last week. He has seven assists on the season.

Hamilton earned Big West Defensive Player of the Week with three shutout halves last week. He has three shutouts this season and is second in the Big West with a .796 save percentage.

Cal Poly travels to Cal State Northridge on Wednesday for a Big West Conference Tournament semifinal matchup at 7 p.m.
