Polling places open at 7 a.m. Tuesday in San Luis Obispo County and stay open until 8 p.m. for voters to cast ballots in the general election.

Voters who are unsure of where their polling place is located, or who might have other questions about the election, can find answers on the County Clerk-Recorder Office’s website, www.slovote.com. Or, voters can call the clerk’s office, 781-5228.

First results will be posted on www.slovote.com after the polls close. Initial results will consist of vote-by-mail ballots that had been turned in by Saturday. Next, county elections staff will count ballots cast Tuesday at polling places. This counting will continue until about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Any remaining vote-by-mail ballots, or ballots that need closer examination, such as those that have marks or tears, will be counted in coming days.
