Sheriff also alleges man failed to appear in court

The Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 38-year-old sex offender from Templeton for allegedly failing to register and failure to appear in court.

Sheriff’s deputies took Matthew James Booker into custody at 11:45 a.m. Thursday outside a home on the 5400 block of Weeping Willow Way in Paso Robles.

According to a sheriff’s press release, Booker at first declined to leave the residence, but his father talked him into coming outside and surrendering.

Booker has a prior conviction for lewd acts with a child younger than 14, and authorities have been looking for him since he failed to make a court appearance in September.
