The recent article about native plants (Add native plants to your garden to cut your water needs, Oct. 10) made good points about the reasons to use native plants, places to see native plants growing and resources to learn about them. Check it out online.
But it did not mention where to get them, except noting that retail nurseries have very limited selection. Because the best time to plant native plants is fall, the local chapter of the California Native Plant Society has held a very large plant sale the first Saturday in November for many years.
This year, the sale will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pacific Beach High School, 11950 Los Osos Valley Road.
Selection is huge, quality high and expert advice is free.
