A vote for Lois Capps

Published: October 31, 2012

Today, my mailbox was flooded with seven election fliers filled with foolish slander. All featured distorted innuendo about the record of our current congresswoman, Lois Capps. After reading these, I felt compelled to share my thoughts.

When I encountered problems with government over the years, I usually got the information I needed by calling agencies such as Social Security, Veterans Affairs and Medicare. When my efforts ran into dead ends, I turned to the office of Lois Capps, and always received a prompt solution. Even when I called on behalf of family in another state, her office provided assistance that could not be obtained from their own representatives. I am deeply grateful for her help.

Our representatives do much more than vote on legislation. Service to constituents is a critical function. When her opponent was my representative in Sacramento, I only received form letters in response to questions. If your Social Security retirement payments stopped or the IRS presented you with an erroneous demand, would you be satisfied with a form letter?

Because Lois Capps understands how hard it is for individuals to navigate the system and has proven her dedication to helping us, I support her re-election.
