I am all for taking money out of politics, but Proposition 32 is a flawed attempt at campaign finance reform. Proposition 32 is cleverly written to take unions out of politics while allowing corporations, super PACs and billionaire activists free to contribute as much as they want. Just read the summary on page 28 of the CA Voter Information Guide which states:
Other political expenditures remain unrestricted, including corporate expenditures from available resources not limited by payroll deduction prohibition.
And, backers want you to pay for Proposition 32. The legislative analyst estimates the cost to implement and enforce the measure to exceed $1 million annually. Creating special exemptions for one group is not real campaign finance reform. It a cynical attempt to trick voters into helping corporate special interests while hurting everyone else. Dont be fooled, vote no on Proposition 32.
