A Santa Maria man was killed and two others were injured in a head-on traffic collision in Nipomo on Saturday evening.
The crash took place about 7:45 p.m. Saturday on Division Street, just west of Riverside Road, according to a CHP news release.
The driver of a Chrysler minivan, traveling west at an unknown speed, crossed the center line and collided head-on with a GMC pickup, which was traveling east at 50 mph. The driver and sole occupant of the minivan, a Santa Maria man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP did not release his name.
The driver of the GMC, a 25-year-old Guadalupe man, suffered major injuries, including a broken right femur. The passenger in the GMC, a 22-year-old Guadalupe man, suffered minor injuries. Their names were not released by the CHP, which is investigating what caused the minivan driver to drift into the other lane.
