Templeton's football team cruises past Santa Ynez

Templeton High’s football team defeated Santa Ynez 28-14 on Friday night to set the stage for next week’s Los Padres League showdown between Templeton (7-2) and Morro Bay (6-3), who are tied for second in the LPL at 4-1.

The Eagles took a commanding lead over the Pirates with a 40-yard touchdown pass from Alex Elterman to Toby Isbell in the first quarter. Tyler Murphy scored both second-quarter touchdowns for Templeton on 7-yard reception from Elterman and a 14-yard run.

Andy Garrettson caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Elterman in the third quarter to increase Templeton’s lead to 28-0. 

The Pirates (1-8, 1-4) scored two touchdowns in the final quarter to finish the game.

Elterman was 15-for-21 passing for 305 yards. Isbell had six receptions for 140 yards, and Garrettson caught three passes for 64 yards.
