The Paso Robles wine region has been named the sixth top wine destination choice in the United States by TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site.

The top five spots went to Sonoma County; Napa Valley; Willamette Valley, Ore.; and Finger Lakes and Long Island, both in New York.

Award winners were selected “based on their popularity as wine destinations, taking into account travelers’ reviews and opinions for local wineries, restaurants, attractions and accommodations,’’ according to TripAdvisor.

The top five wine destinations in Europe are Tuscany, Italy; Aquitaine and Provence, France; and Umbria and Sicily, Italy.
