UPDATE 9:55 a.m.: A woman and a 3-year-old toddler are at a local hospital with major injuries after a car veered off the roadway and hit them, according to CHP Officer J.W. Townsen.

The car that struck them does not appear to have been speeding. Rather, the sunlight affected the driver's view, causing the person to drift off the road.

Original story: An adult and a child were hit by a vehicle near Nipomo and 11th streets in Los Osos around 8 a.m. today.

Two ambulances have been called to the scene for injuries.
