Thirty water rescuers from across the state honed their skills on the North Coast this week in the fourth annual class hosted by North Coast Ocean Rescue, the Cambria Fire Department and the Fire Management Consultant firm.

Instruction began Monday in calm waters in Morro Bay, continued with a half-day of classroom instruction in Cambria and in the water at San Simeon Bay through Thursday.

Firefighters and search and rescue personnel learned how to rescue people from the surf, ocean and boats in trouble.
