The nearly 400 members of our local Division 23 of the California Retired Teachers Association (CalRTA) have spent decades (centuries for the whole group) in the classroom. Even after retiring, many of us go back into the classroom, not only because we love it, but because given recent budget cuts, many schools cant make ends meet without us.
School funding is always on the chopping block. California now ranks 47th in the nation in per-pupil funding. But there is hope. Proposition 30 is expected to provide $6 billion to our schools, kindergarten through community college, in the first year. The much needed money will be locally controlled, not spent on administrative issues.
As teachers, our passion and our care were dedicated to the success of our students. As retired teachers, we dont stop caring. The CalRTA PAC fully supports public education funding.
Please join us in rescuing public education for all of our children. Visit www.teachers 4ever.com to learn more about how you can get involved.
