Eagles will join Righetti, San Luis Obispo in CIF-Southern Section team championships

Arroyo Grande High capped a historic season Wednesday for PAC 7 girls golf teams.

The PAC 7 concluded its regular season with a tournament at Rancho Maria Golf Club in Orcutt with Righetti winning the team title on the day with an 18-hole 462 to 463 for San Luis Obispo and 466 for Arroyo Grande.

Arroyo Grande wrapped up its first league championship with 63 points in the final team season standings. Righetti was second with 56 points to 54 for San Luis Obispo, 31 for St. Joseph, 30 for Paso Robles, 24 for Pioneer Valley and eight for Atascadero.

For the first time in PAC 7 history, three teams — Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo and Righetti — have qualified for Monday’s CIF-Southern Section Northern Division team championships at Soule Park Golf Club in Ojai.

St. Joseph’s Desiree Gillaspy, the PAC 7 MVP, took medalist honors Wednesday with 2-under 71, finishing seven strokes ahead of San Luis Obispo’s Nora Zakaria. Arroyo Grande’s Anna Zhang was third with an 83, and teammate Breana Garcia shot a 90. San Luis Obispo’s Neah Sikand shot an 88.

Gillaspy, Zhang, Zakaria, Sikand and Righetti’s Melanie Johnson will be the PAC 7’s five league representatives at the CIF-Southern Sectional individual championships later this season.

Joining those five on the PAC 7 first team are Garcia and teammate Megan Donegan.

Paso Robles was led by Michaela Howard’s 96 on Wednesday, and Atascadero was led by Miranda Roetker’s 104.
