Smart energy event scheduled for Saturday in SLO

Published: October 16, 2012

A daylong smart energy event will be held Saturday at the San Luis Obispo Veteran’s Hall.

The energy event will feature morning speaker sessions on a variety of energy-saving topics, a lunchtime keynote address by State Sen. Sam Blakeslee, R-San Luis Obispo, and afternoon mobile workshops where participants can see energy-saving technologies firsthand.

The event will cover three main topics – getting to net-zero energy, energy efficiency, and alternative transportation and fuels. The event is part of National Energy Awareness Month, the goal of which is to promote the importance of clean energy and energy-efficient technology.

Sponsors are San Luis Obispo County as well as other local governments and non-profits. A fee of $5 includes lunch, speaker sessions and transportation to the mobile workshops.
