Elections at the state and federal levels are now strongly influenced by secret corporate funding due to the Citizens United decision, as noted by Dan Biezad’s letter Oct. 4. His diagnosis of an attempt to purchase our elections by the wealthy is correct.

Presidential elections, however, are extremely important. All Supreme Court justices appointed by Democrats voted against this decision. All justices appointed by Republicans voted for this law, granting the rich and powerful greater control of our government. Future Republican presidents will appoint like-minded justices. One Democratic appointee replacing a conservative justice will allow this terrible decision to be reversed. Please take time to become informed and vote.
