Letter to the Editor

Superhero Underoos

San Luis ObispoOctober 15, 2012

One morning after speaking at a San Luis Obispo City Council meeting, I received an email from city councilman Dan Carpenter. We have communicated on many occasions, and he has always responded in a timely and respectful manner.

This time he was asking the questions. “What did you mean when you said the homeless behave differently in Santa Maria?” Unlike many elected officials, Dan was clearly listening. That question led to our tour of the Good Samaritan Shelter and other locations that provide homeless services.

Recently while reading SLO Life Magazine, I came across an article by its publisher, Tom Franciskovich, titled “Underoos and World Peace.” Tom mentioned that the type of Underoos you choose to wear could say a lot about who you are as a person.

Clearly Councilman Dan Carpenter is already wearing those superhero Underoos. Dan, just like Tom’s superheroes, continues to “step up his game” as he looks out for the health and safety of the residents of the city of San Luis Obispo.

Dan is a man of high moral standards, as well as knowledgeable, thoughtful and, most of all, committed to doing what is best for the city he clearly loves. That is why I am asking the residents of SLO to please reelect Dan Carpenter.
