A March 21 Tribune article explained the $126,000 yearly salary awarded then-new Oceano Community Services District General Manager Tom Geaslen. It said that while Geaslen’s contract included a $69 monthly cell phone allowance, he wouldn’t take it.
The district failed to remove the reimbursement for cell phone clause from the lucrative contract, and without the clause removed, Geaslen is entitled to the reimbursement.
Despite the record, on video tape and comments to the press, the warrants of October 10 presented to the OCSD Board of Directors revealed a request for $414 for six months of cell phone reimbursement for Geaslen.
The board had no choice; the nominal charge is agreed to by both parties and had to approve it.
No, it’s not a lot of money to talk about.
It is the principle.
