I’ve read a lot of articles online and The Tribune’s recent articles about how the seismic testing might affect the fish and their habitats. I haven’t seen any information about at what depth this is going to be done.
This is very important. Are they going to blast these tests in less than 200 feet of water? Because that depth and under is where most sport fishing occurs.
My next question that has not been talked about either is are they going to test in the state marine closure areas off of Cambria, Pecho and Point Sal?
These closure areas were established by the state to protect fish, not for experimenting. As the The Tribune’s Oct. 7 article states, “whether it may damage populations beyond that is unknown.”
The article also mentions compensation for commercial fisherman.
As a sport fisherman, I’ve been fishing in these areas for more than 60 years. Where is my compensation?
