Prep Roundup: Templeton cross country teams win at Cal Poly Invitational

The Templeton High cross country team won both the boys and girls Division IV titles in the 5K race at the Cal Poly Invitational on Saturday.  

Nick Landy led the Eagles in 13th place with a time of 16 minutes, 57 seconds. On the girls side, Templeton’s Dana Albert led the Eagles with a 13th-place individual finish in 20:56. 

Mission Prep had the only girls Division V complete team, and the Royals were second in the boys division race. 

Katrina Torres led the Mission Prep girls with a 25th-place finish in 21:40. The Royals’ top boys finisher was Jack Mooney in 32nd place in 17:36.

Paso Robles (12-11) lost to Righetti 9-8, beat Nordoff 15-4 and Atascadero 11-5 to finish third.

Morgan Moore scored nine goals on the day for Paso Robles.

Noah Norton netted three goals for the Bearcats against Righetti. Collin Moore scored three goals against Nordoff, and David Galvez had three against Atascadero. Goalie Ben Nagengast had 32 saves for the three games.

Coast Union 63, Laguna Blanca 24

Alex Bautista had 14 carries for 157 yards and three touchdowns and completed his only attempted pass for a 50-yard touchdown to Emmany Godinez, who also rushed for a touchdown, as the Broncos (7-0) routed the Owls.

Luis De’Alba had 132 rushing yards on 11 carries and also had three rushing touchdowns as Coast Union led 57-6 at halftime. Austin Eide had 30 rushing yards and a touchdown.
