Missing Los Osos man is found

UPDATE: John Andrews was found in downtown San Luis Obispo Sunday by sheriff’s deputies after the missing man called his brother on his cell phone.

 

Sheriff’s Sgt. Tony Perry said deputies were contacted by the brother around 9 a.m. and were told that Andrews had called and said he was downtown.

Deputies found him in front of a business in the 700 block of Osos St. at 9:50 a.m.

Perry said Andrews was then taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for evaluation and any necessary treatment.

ORIGINAL: A 69-year-old Los Osos man was reported missing Friday, according to the Sheriff's Office.

John Joseph Andrews was last seen leaving his Los Osos home on foot Thursday night.

After checking local homeless shelters and hospitals, authorities discovered that he had visited Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo on Friday. He was discharged before noon.

Andrews has no vehicle and often travels on foot.

Family members told the Sheriff's Office that Andrews has bouts of depression, memory loss and disorientation.

Andrews is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall and 170 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was reportedly wearing blue jeans and a blue collared shirt when he left his home Thursday.
