Given the ever-dwindling state funds allocated to public schools, I commend Lucia Mar Unified School District for maintaining and even improving the high quality of education our children receive in our local schools. The teachers, staff and administration are second to none.
That being said, why is it at Harloe Elementary School in Arroyo Grande, construction on the kindergarten playground and repair work for water damage in one of the kindergarten rooms could not have been accomplished during the summer, so as not to displace students in the beginning months of the school year?
I understand funding may have been delayed, permits take time, yadda, yadda.
Bottom line: Someone in charge didnt plan well, and now my son has to go to a trailer on the other end of the school to learn from a teacher whose heart of gold and tremendous skill and effectiveness is hampered by spending weeks in a less-than-optimum learning environment.
