Bearcats outscore Kingsburg 28-7 in second half to pull away for win

Paso Robles High's football team outscored Kingsburg 55-27 on Friday night in a nonleague game at Paso Robles.

The Bearcats (4-2) outlasted the Vikings (5-1) in a game that had more than 1,000 yards of offense. 

The Bearcats finished with 442 yards of offense on just 41 plays and capitalized on a Thomas Stainbrook 28-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter and a Bailey Gaither 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Gaither also had a 49-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter form Gunnar Griffin.

Paso Robles quarterback Garrett Nelson finished with two rushing touchdowns, 102 passing yards and one passing touchdown with no interceptions.

Colton Madrigal finished with 200 rushing yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.

Brandon Steele led Kingsburg, which had won 62 of its past 69 games, with 399 passing yards, 64 rushing yards and three total touchdowns. Kingsburg finished with 614 total yards on 79 plays.

Paso Robles finished with a plus-four turnover differential and committed just four penalties. The Bearcats outscored the Vikings 28-7 in the second half.
