Another heat record was set in San Luis Obispo on Tuesday when the high reached 96, breaking the old mark by two degrees.

Local meteorologist John Lindsey said the previous record of 94 degrees was set in 1995.

Other highs from around the county as gathered by Lindsey included:

• The SLOWeather.com weather station west of San Luis Obispo, 102 degrees.

• Baywood Heights in Los Osos, 93.

• Arroyo Grande, 87.

• Pismo Beach, 85.

• Santa Margarita, 102.

• Paso Robles, 105, which missed the record for the date of 107, set in 1980.

Today the weather will start to cool as low pressure moves down the West Coast.

“This will increase the onshore flow and allow for the return of night and morning marine low clouds, fog and areas of drizzle,” Lindsey said in his daily forecast.

Highs today should be 78 degrees in San Luis Obispo and 88 in Paso Robles, he said. There will be further cooling heading into the weekend, and conditions along the coast will be windy. By Monday, highs countywide will be in the low 70s.

Showers and thunderstorms may break out over the Sierra Nevada on Sunday and Monday, but no rain is expected in San Luis Obispo County, Lindsey said.
