Oceano Community Services District board candidate forum scheduled for tonight

clambert@thetribunenews.comOctober 2, 2012

The Oceano Advisory Council is hosting a forum today for two candidates running for a seat on the Oceano Community Services District board.

Though four seats are up on the five-member board, only one seat is being contested. However, all board members are expected to attend to greet the public and answer questions.

The two candidates for the contested seat are Rick Searcy and Karen White. Searcy is a retired construction worker and former board member who resigned in May, citing medical conditions, less than a week after he was involved in a crash along Highway 101 and cited on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence.

White, a former journalist who lives in Halcyon, was appointed to fill Searcy’s seat after he resigned.

The forum starts at 7 p.m. at 1655 Front St.
