A Cambria man accused of killing his half-brother pleaded not guilty to murder during his initial court appearance Monday.

Brandon Noble Hens-lee, 22, appeared in court for his arraignment. He’s charged with murder and two enhancements: one for use of a deadly weapon and another for committing a crime with a prior felony.

Investigators say Henslee murdered his half-brother, Tyler Daniel Hanks, 20, and dumped the body under some pine trees on the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve, about two blocks from their home.

Henslee was arrested on a parole violation Aug. 26, the same day the body was found. He has since been held in County Jail without bail.

During his hearing Monday, Henslee was assigned an attorney and given his next court date, a pre-trial hearing Wednesday.

Hanks, one of three brothers, attended Leffingwell High School and graduated from Grizzly Youth Academy in San Luis Obispo.
