I take exception to Mr. Heers letter implying that if the jokes at the Creston Rodeo were about a Republican, it wouldnt have made the news. Wrong is wrong, rude is rude; and no public figure, Republican or Democrat, should be subjected to the crass dialogue that passes as political discussion today.
The rodeo is a family, public, and presumably nonpartisan event. If this guy wanted to make crass political jokes, this wasnt the venue. Its acceptable to call him on this inappropriate behavior. Not only was it a rude comment directed toward a political party, it was directed toward women, and nothing about the comments was acceptable social behavior.
