Lights Parade coming in December

September 26, 2012

The annual Holiday Lights Parade will be held Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. There will be an arts-and-crafts gifts faire starting at 3 p.m.

The popular chili cook-off and a decorated cupcake contest will be held from 4 to 5:45 p.m. Local businesses will be open and participating in the festivities. This is a great way to get involved with your community and your neighbors. Help is always needed and welcomed.

For information, call Mike Saunders at 712-9120 or Miki Landseadel-Saunders at 975-6996 or see them at the San Miguel Mercantile downtown. You have a friend in Party Helpers The holidays are coming fast, and there is a new business in our area that is just the place to turn to for help in entertaining at home or work.

Central Coast Party Helpers is the brainchild of former caterer Bridgette Faulkner, who realized a need for party help above and beyond catering. She and her excellent staff, along with a large network of associates, are prepared to help hosts and hostesses from planning to staging, to clearing everything away afterward.

The motto of Central Coast Party Helpers is “Be a Guest at Your Own Party.” For information, call 238-7979 or email brig@centralcoastparty helpers.com.

Backward jogger runs through San Miguel

You may have recently seen someone running backward on Highway 101. Shadrack Anderson Jr., known as The Amazing Backwards Running Man, was in San Miguel on Monday.

Anderson first ran backward in Army boot camp in 1966. The 63-year-old Vietnam veteran took up backward running permanently around 1986, finding it extremely uplifting and beneficial to his physical and mental health.

Anderson left the Santa Monica Pier on Sept. 3 and plans to arrive at the Golden Gate Bridge on Oct. 12.
