The public is invited to a forum featuring candidates vying for seats on the Atascadero City Council.

The Atascadero Chamber of Commerce’s legislative committee will host the event, scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at City Hall, 6907 El Camino Real.

Three seats are up for grabs this November: one two-year mayoral position and the two four-year council seats.

Mayor Bob Kelley is running for a seat on the council along with incumbent Councilwoman Roberta Fonzi. Business manager Ann Ketcherside will challenge the pair.

This will be the first year Atascadero has an elected mayor, for which mid-term Councilman Tom O'Malley is running unopposed. After the election, the council must appoint a new member to serve the remaining two years of O'Malley's council term.

The forum is designed to allow the candidates to give their positions on the issues facing the City Council in the future, according to a news release from the chamber. Those interested in attending may bring questions for the candidates.

For more information, call the chamber at 466-2044 or email
