San Miguel Scene: Rummage sale at adobe Saturday

Friends of the Adobes meets today at noon at the Rios-Caledonia Adobe, 700 Mission St. All are welcome.

The group will finalize plans for its rummage sale Saturday, which starts at 8 a.m. on the adobe grounds. Proceeds go for maintenance and preservation of the adobe. Museum hours are Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For information call Joyce Herman at 440-7173.

The San Miguel Advisory Council will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Community Building behind the library in the park. The council is advisory to the Board of Supervisors and the County Planning Department. They also receive reports from the Sheriff’s Office, the Highway Patrol, the Community Services District and various other local groups at the meetings. All meetings are open to the public.

The SLO County Food Bank Hunger Walk will take place at 2 p.m., Saturday at several sites in the county. In Paso Robles, the walk starts from Plymouth Congregational Church, 1301 Oak St. Check-in is at 1 p.m. Register at slofood bank.org  , click on Hunger Walk.

They are also looking for sponsors, and donations are always welcome. Santa Barbara Bank and Trust has donated a gift basket to be given to the walker who brings in the most money on the Paso Robles walk. For details, call Jackie Sebro at 238-4742.

Mission 4 Life is dedicated to respect and protecting the dignity and sanctity of life. At 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 6, the bishop of Monterey, Rev. Richard Garcia, will celebrate a special vigil Mass at Mission San Luis Obispo followed by a candlelight walk through the city.
