Kayakers and paddle-boarders move out of San Simeon Cove on Saturday, Sept. 15, during the sixth annual Pier-to-Point Fun Paddle and Ocean Race, a fundraiser for the nonprofit volunteer North Coast Ocean Rescue team. This year’s 41 participants’ departure was delayed a half hour by a heavy marine layer. They covered a 6-mile route to Leffingwell Landing. Another fundraising event starts at the San Simeon Pier this Saturday, Sept. 15, when the Pier-to-Point run, walk and kids mile run benefits the Cambria Youth Athletic Assocication.
