Letter: Class separation

Imagine our nation’s prosperity if the GOP had actually tried to do what was best for America for the past four years. Communication, compromise, rational thinking and a genuine concern for the majority of Americans could have ensured economic growth. The Republican “leadership” took the unpatriotic stance of doing absolutely nothing that benefited the majority of citizens. Obstinacy and deceit concerning the Affordable Care Act, compounded with an obsession for cutting taxes for the rich and corporations has not helped us as a nation.

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, who unsurprisingly ignore at least one of the Ten Commandments in their rhetoric, are vehemently pushing this class separation trend with a “middle-class-be-damned” ideology.

Romney as a secretive, predatory and even parasitic businessman is just the facade for the super-rich who seek to control our country. Karl Rove, Rupert Murdoch, the Koch Brothers and other reckless billionaires supporting Romney/Ryan are touting them as shepherds to lead us out of the horrifying too-few-tax-cuts-for-the-wealthy Barack Obama years.

This quote from John Milton’s poem Lycidas seems appropriate:

“The hungry sheep look up, and are not fed, But swollen with wind and the rank mist they draw, Rot inwardly, and foul contagion spread ... .”
