The Morro Bay High boys water polo team defeated Channel Islands 14-4 in the first round of the Pioneer Valley Tournament on Friday.

Keary Kennedy had four goals, and Chandler Richmond had three goals for the Pirates (2-1), who were fresh off of a 13-6 victory over Atascadero on Thursday, the first win over the Greyhounds in school history.

Morro Bay will face Nipomo today at 8:40 a.m. in a second-round matchup.
