Widening project will improve flow at the intersection with Broad Street

Construction workers are in the process of widening the intersection of Tank Farm Road and Broad Street to add a left-turn lane onto Broad Street. The $583,493 contract was awarded to Souza Construction of San Luis Obispo.

A second turn lane will also be added for traffic traveling north on Broad Street and turning west onto Tank Farm Road.

The added lanes are being constructed to help alleviate traffic at the intersection, said Dan Van Beveren, the city’s project manager.

A portion of the project is being funded by developer impact fees from developments at the southeast portion of town.

The work, being done on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., is expected to be complete sometime in the next seven weeks.
