I agree with Susan Glisson’s perception (“So They Say,” Sept. 11) that there are those who object to our president because of his race. And, in fact, I think that sometimes the labels of “communist,” “socialist” and “Hitler” used by the right are actually code for “black.” If those who use those labels really understood the systems they ostensibly are criticizing, they would realize that they do not fit with our current system, however left-leaning (or fascist!) it may appear to be.

I think it simply rankles some of our citizenry to see a black family in the White House.
