Church parking lot gets major do-over

Published: September 13, 2012

Major repair work began Tuesday, Sept. 11, on the parking lot at Santa Rosa Catholic Church, 1174 Main St.

The original asphalt was just poured over fill dirt, according to Father Mark Stetz of the church. The church redid about half of the lot, around the edge, about five years ago.

The current project will install a French drain to carry away runoff flows off the hill on the north side of Main Street, water that had pooled under the asphalt at the church parking lot, causing ripples and potholes.

Estimated cost of the work is $90,000, but that could change. The work is being done by Tim Winsor’s Winsor Construction of Cambria, Mitch Frederick’s Paving of Paso Robles and a local man who’ll do the striping.

Work should be done by Friday, Sept. 21. Neighboring Rabobank is allowing church goers to park in their lot this weekend. — Staff
