Give blood, get chowder on Tuesday

Published: September 13, 2012

There’ll be free chowder, salad, bread and soda for all who donate blood during the 11th annual drive cosponsored by Cambria’s Sea Chest Oyster Bar and Seafood Restaurant, Sons of the American Legion and legion Post No. 432.

The blood-donation van will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, in front of the restaurant at 6216 Moonstone Beach Drive.

The annual drive boosts county blood supplies. The reward for donors is knowing they may help save lives, according to longtime organizer Steve Kniffen. Call him at 927-3266 for details or an optional reservation.

Donations take about 45 minutes, mostly for paperwork. The blood-draw takes five to eight minutes, after which donors are asked to stay for observation for approximately 15 minutes. —Kathe Tanner
