Each day, more than 100 people eat breakfast at Prado Day Center, totaling more than 3,000 breakfasts served each month and 36,000 breakfasts served each year.
The foods for the Breakfast Program are almost all donated by private citizens and private groups.
I know the items necessary to feed breakfast to the homeless in San Luis Obispo because Im a private citizen who donates regularly; I bring the cream cheese.
I have, in the past, written a folksy letter telling about the need for cream cheese, orange juice, margarine, bread, cereal, milk, bowls, plates, forks, spoons, etc. Now, think about the statistics. Think about the quantity and the volume of food needed each day, month and year.
Prado Day Center needs regular donors who will bring food items or food store gift certificates. A one-time donation is also greatly appreciated. Drop off items at the Prado Day Center between 1 and 4 p.m. any day.
