Letter: Damaging test

Published: September 12, 2012

Having fished these local waters commercially for more than 60 years and captained ocean drilling ships for the petroleum industry for eight years, I feel I am qualified to state that high-intensity seismic blasting does long-lasting harm, especially to larvae and juvenile fish and crab. Several academic institutions have published white papers of their research on this subject.

Wouldn’t it be fair to take the unit hours fished from my federallymandated logs and my California Department of Fish and Game landing receipts and compute the worth of my efforts and pay me accordingly? PG&E is stonewalling, although they say they are cooperating with the local fishermen.
