Overnight parking topic of SLO workshop

Published: September 10, 2012

A public workshop will be at 6:30 p.m. today at the San Luis Obispo City/County Library to discuss the city’s plans to create a new ordinance to control recreational vehicle parking on public streets.

In August, the city agreed to dismiss all tickets this year issued to people for sleeping in their vehicles on public streets as part of a settlement with the SLO Homeless Alliance.

The settlement also stipulated that the city would pursue a different method of regulating overnight camping on city streets by the end of the year.

The new ordinance is intended to address the “on-street storage of oversized vehicles and unattached trailers.”
