Grover Beach — Correction: Due to incorrect information from Grover Beach police, an earlier version of this story had an incorrect age for suspect Thomas Allen Kirker. He is 60, not 32.

A 60-year-old man broke into the home of a Grover Beach acquaintance early this morning in search of prescription drugs and attempted to murder the resident after he refused to provide the drugs, according to Grover Beach police.

The resident, whose name the police are not releasing for his own protection, did not require medical treatment, said police.

Thomas Allen Kirker, of Grover Beach, was arrested after the incident on suspicion of attempted murder and attempted robbery, as well as burglary. 

The incident occurred on the 100 block of Carmelde Lane.
