Each day, dispatchers from the seven police departments in San Luis Obispo County take dozens of calls from residents seeking help for issues ranging from minor disputes to serious crimes. The Tribune provides coverage of serious crimes every day on its news pages. Here is alook at some of the other, more unusual calls as found in recent police logs from Atascadero.

Just say no 11:19 a.m. Aug. 26, 7111 El Camino Real The owner of a pizza restaurant said he found used needles in his bathroom. He said it was an ongoing problem.

Neighborhood watch 11:42 a.m. Aug. 26, Chauplin Avenue A resident reported an old light blue and rust Chevy pickup truck had been seen cruising the area the past two weeks. A tarp covered the back of the bed. Officers found the truck, talked with the two men inside, and determined all was OK.

Moms in need 1:28 p.m. Aug. 26, 8200 El Camino Real Two women reportedly stole baby formula and energy drinks from a store.

So hard to say goodbye 4:14 p.m. Aug. 26, 600 block of Garcia Avenue A woman was reportedly sitting in an older white Mercedes on the street after moving out of her residence.

Dentists applaud 312 p.m. Aug. 27, 8300 El Camino Real A citizen said piping for the sprinkler system had water coming out of it and it appeared transients were using it to brush their teeth.

Body building 6:34 p.m. Aug. 27, 7111 El Camino Real A man in front of a business was doing push-ups with one leg in the roadway and one leg on the sidewalk. Officers contacted the man, who was in his 60s, and advised him to leave the area.

Not a taxi service 9:01 p.m. Aug. 27, 9400 El Camino Real A woman called police and said she had a question about custody. When called back, the woman said she was just trying to get a ride from officers.

McNapping 10:16 a.m. Aug. 28, 6300 Morro Road Someone was seen sleeping in the McDonald’s driveway. The person was gone by the time officers arrived.

Cleanup time 11:57 a.m. Aug. 28, 4000 Portola Road A citizen said landscaping flyers left on mailboxes were being blown off by the wind and were littering the street. A message was left with the business owner, who was going to come clean them up.

Men at work 10:56 p.m. Aug. 28, Portola Road A resident reported hearing gunshots. Officers talked with construction workers on the freeway, who said the steel plates they were dropping could have been the source of the noise.

Supermarket bandits 4:23 p.m. Aug. 29, 7135 El Camino Real A person said an organized crime ring burglarized Vons on Aug. 26. Miscellaneous merchandise worth $750 was reportedly stolen.

RIP Wile E. 11:08 p.m. Aug. 31, 1 High School Hill A dead coyote was found in front of classroom G1 at the high school.

Decay in the neighborhood 7:29 p.m. Sept. 1, 7900 block of Yesal Avenue A resident said a neighbor had something dead wrapped in a black plastic bag in the yard. It reportedly smelled very bad, and other neighbors were complaining as well, but the owner refused to dispose of it. Officers determined it was a dead domestic animal, and the owner agreed to take care of it.
