The deadline to apply to fill a vacant seat on the Cambria Parks Recreation and Open Space Commission board is 4 p.m. Sept. 25.

The commission has served in an advisory role to the Cambria Community Services District board for more than a decade, working on recreational, trail and open-space projects, planning and helping to develop parks and foster partnerships with community members and other agencies.

The district owns a considerable amount of vacant land, including the more than 430 acres of Fiscalini Ranch Preserve.

The vacancy follows the resignation of Commissioner Jeff Miller, who moved to Sedona, Ariz., July 1. The term runs through Dec. 31, 2015.
