Man arrested after allegedly stealing child's scooter from SLO yard

Published: September 4, 2012

A far as being a getaway vehicle, a scooter probably wasn't the best choice for 21-year-old Thomas Jefferey Traber, who allegedly stole the scooter from a front yard in San Luis Obispo.

According to a press release, a SLOPD officer was flagged down by a man around 11:45 a.m. Sept. 3 regarding the theft of his son’s Razor scooter, which had been left in the family's Stenner Street front yard. The father told the officer that he witnessed the theft but was unable to catch up to the thief in time to stop him.

A description of the suspect was given to the officer and the suspect was located about 15 minutes later on Carpenter Street. Traber, a San Luis Obispo resident, and the scooter were identified by the child’s father. Traber was arrested and booked into County Jail on suspicion of petty theft.
