Letter: Time to remember

Labor Day is a time to remember the struggle over the past hundred years to secure basic workers’ rights. Without minimum-wage laws, the rise of the middle class could not have happened. Minimum-wage laws protect the most vulnerable workers from unfair exploitation.

We need to protect our unions’ rights to collective bargaining. We need to celebrate and defend our democratic system that allows us protection of the law.
