Reading the article “Social Security debate restoked” (Aug. 27) reminds me of a time I called a financial radio host to tell him: stop saying that you “guarantee the return” on the financial instruments you are talking about because you know very well you can’t guarantee any of it.

In the body of said article regarding Social Security, Vice President Joe Biden told a customer in a diner: “I guarantee you, flat guarantee you, there will be no changes in Social Security.” This is as outrageous hyperbole as the other guarantee by the radio host.

Regardless of political views, I hope everyone understands that the only thing Joe Biden can guarantee is that he’ll continue to make more bloopers, even without trying.
