Cuesta volleyball team drops season opener

Cuesta College’s volleyball team lost 3-0 Wednesday in its season opener at home to Porterville (2-0).

The Cougars had four starters who were playing their first college match in the 25-7, 25-7, 25-12 loss.

Porterville used two big runs to win the first two sets, jumping out to a 15-4 lead in the opening set and then scoring the final eight points of the second set.

Kylie Gacad had 10 assists for Cuesta, which is off until Sept. 7 when it plays at Victor Valley.
