On July 20, 1969, Jean, my future wife, and I sat in her living room watching Neil Armstrong step into history as the first man to set foot on the moon.

In December of that same year, I was a Marine in Chu Lai, Vietnam. Bob Hope and his famous USO tour came to entertain us. Despite all the big names and pretty girls Bob brought with him, no one received the ovation that Neil Armstrong did when Bob introduced him. It was a great moment for a great man, and one that will live forever in my memory.
